Euthanasia Bill Failed to Move


On April 16, 2020, the Kentucky Legislature closed without a vote on Bill HB 224.

The bill, titled "an act relating to patient directed care at the end of life," had sought to legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia, as those terms are traditionally defined. The bill was assigned to the House Health and Family Services Committee, where it failed to move.

The bill is presumed dead for the year.

Euthanasia Bill Introduced

On January 9. 2020, HB 224, seeking to legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia, was introduced in the House of Representatives. 

On January 13, 2020, the bill was referred to the Health and Family Services Committee. There has been no reported action since.
